The awards were announced as part of the ICSC RECon Asia event, the leading retail convention which was this year hosted in Singapore. This is the third consecutive year that Benoy-designed projects have been awarded by the ICSC, with Parc 66 in Jinan, China and Hysan Place in Hong Kong winning Gold for New Development in 2012 and 2013 respectively.

iAPM opened in Shanghai in 2013 and has since proven to be a popular landmark along the famous shopping boulevard, Huai Hai Road. The seven-storey retail development is a key feature of the Shanghai ICC mixed-use scheme and also the city’s first late night shopping precinct. Benoy undertook the full scope of work for this prestigious development, delivering the Masterplanning, Architecture, Interior Architecture, Wayfinding and Graphic Design.

Plaza Singapura is one of Benoy’s latest repositioning projects in Asia. The refurbishment of the Orchard Road development involved the expansion of the existing mall which included the conversion of three commercial office floors into prime retail space. The Benoy Team was tasked with developing both the overall concept and Interior Design for the refurbishment including the dynamic façade design which unites the three components of the scheme.

“It is an honour to see Benoy’s projects recognised by the ICSC. As a multi-disciplinary firm, these awards represent the quality of work not only for new build but also with existing assets and showcase the breadth of our expertise from Masterplanning all the way through to Signage Design,” said Alan Wan, Benoy’s Director who was in attendance at the awards ceremony.

Alan Wan was also part of the 2014 convention, hosting the round table discussions on ‘Repositioning of retail – how to maximise the asset through good design’. Around the world, Benoy has seen a notable increase in the number of projects which are undergoing renewed investment. Alan shared Benoy’s expertise increasing the commercial success of a development with small scale and non-structural refurbishments through to comprehensive overhauls and extensions.
