• Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors Annual Conference 2011

    The HKIS hosted its annual conference on 17 September 2011 at the Conrad Hong Kong, attracting more than 200 participants. The theme for the conference was “Central Business Districts in Hong Kong: Today and To-morrow”. HKIA was  honoured to have Mrs Carrie Lam, Secretary for Development as guest-of-honour. The Conference aimed to provide a unique opportunity for real estate and construction professionals, as well as academia, to review and explore the challenges and opportunities arising from the current and future development of the CBDs in Hong Kong.

    The conference is seem as a platform for industry stakeholders to exchange their experiences and views. Apart from gaining first-hand knowledge on the latest development within the CBD, the vision and experience from renowned speakers also inspired conference attendees with new ideas and insights.     The 280-meter-tall Lumina Shanghai, developed by Henderson Land Group and designed by Gensler, is the tallest skyscraper in the Xuhui Riverside District.


    A sophisticated yet modern setting was derived by juxtaposition of Indochine-Vietnamese features and wood-fire inspired material palettes. Re-interpretation of the spatial order of a typical Indochine-Vietnamese mansion has been adopted to give hierarchy, layers and details to the space.
