Design A: Gammon – Hip Hing Joint Venture The design projects the spirit of Hong Kong: an openness & receptiveness to new ideas and diverse cultures. The Open Door also symbolizes openness and transparency of government. Within the site the architecture is intentionally understated and lush greenery takes centre stage. The Green Carpet that connects the Harbour through the Door leads to a multitude of people-friendly venues. Tamar’s architecture demonstrates a passionate commitment to sustainable design, contributing to the concerted effort to bring back the Blue Sky. The essence of Tamar’s design is connectivity, both physically in terms of pedestrian movement and symbolically in terms of dialogue between different parties. Design B: DHK – CRCC Tamar Joint Venture The Project has been conceived of as a dignified setting for open government, as a symbol of Hong Kong as Asia’s World City and as a dynamic harbourfront park for residents and visitors alike. The design intent is to create an attractive, vibrant, sustainable landscape environment with a wide variety of leisure and recreational activities for maximum public enjoyment. The Project enhances scenic views of the harbour and preserves visual access to the waterfront. It is sustainable for future generations. It will endure. It will be a timeless centrepiece for Asia’s World City. Design C: Paul Y. – Shui On Joint Venture Iconic Architecture – Interlocking / Slanting Form is a dynamic, forward-looking, energetic, sophisticated world-class showcase, representing a cosmopolitan image of Hong Kong. Forming part of a city green route and sustainable employing a double façade, renewable energy, thermal and noise insulation and 2.2 hectares of public green area. Green roofs provide wildlife habitat and water retention mitigating heat. Aerodynamic design of building core provides effective enhancement of breezeways whilst ensuring unobstructed seaviews. The design aims to exert a modern, high-tech and transparent image of the HKSAR Government. Design D: China State – Leighton – Yau Lee Joint Venture The whole development enhances the efficiency, accessibility and openness of the Hong Kong Civil Service and Legislature. The development is further enhanced by the 2 hectares of open space designed to link the headquarters and the Admiralty hinterland with the world-class harbour-front park and promenade. The open space is centred on the civic square which will provide both gathering and ceremonial facilities with the excellent views from the grand staircase and sculptured landscaped banks. The two main structures of the CGC and Legco High block take the form of Junk sails engendering the need for both to work in harmony to maintain the progress of Hong Kong. |
