A design competition for Tai O Twin Bridges was launched on 28 November. Qualified professionals and the general public are invited to contribute innovative design concepts for two footbridges at Po Chue Tam and Yim Tin in Tai O to serve as reference for the projects in the future.
The competition is organised by the Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) with support from the Development Bureau, the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, the Hong Kong Institute of Landscape Architects and the Hong Kong Institute of Urban Design.
Mr Raymond Ho, Project Manager, CEDD said: “The two proposed footbridges will help improve the connectivity within Tai O. The footbridge at Po Chue Tam is near the Yeung Hau Temple, a Grade I historic building, while the footbridge at Yim Tin is located in ecologically sensitive areas. Through the competition we hope to receive functional, innovative, iconic and holistic designs that take into account the beautiful surroundings. It is also part of our efforts to further encourage the public to take part in the revitalisation of Tai O.”
Registration for the competition will close on 28December. Entries should be submitted by 31 January, 2013.
