• Open Call for Artwork Proposals “Public Art Scheme of the Town Park, Indoor Velodrome-cum-Sports Centre in Area 45, Tseung Kwan O”

    6 February 2012

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department
Organised by the Art Promotion Office
In Partnership with the Architectural Services Department

Part of the Art Promotion Office’s ongoing mission since it was first established has been to organise public art schemes in which selected artists and art groups are commissioned to create and install public artworks at venues managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. Offering the public the opportunity to encounter and appreciate art while using cultural and recreational facilities, these schemes not only beautify our living environment, but also close the distance that we all too frequently experience from art.

The Town Park and Indoor Velodrome-cum-Sports Centre under construction in Area 45 of Tseung Kwan O is a large leisure, recreational and sports facility that will feature a landscaped artificial lake and grand lawn, a multi-purpose amphitheatre, an outdoor climbing wall, a skateboard park and, as its focal point, an international competition-standard indoor velodrome.

Hong Kong and overseas artists with sound experience and competence in public artwork creation, production and installation are welcome to submit original proposals for outdoor public artworks on a sporting theme. The selected proposals would be considered to be installed to beautify the well-planned town park, indoor velodrome-cum-sports centre in Tseung Kwan O and to highlight sports culture at the venue.
