• yoo18BONHAM, rare duplexes in Mid-Levels offer compelling investment choices

    26 September 2017

(26 September 2017, Hong Kong) Right in the historic heart of Hong Kong, an exclusive project is taking shape.  A total of 12 large luxury residential flats have been developed into the pinnacle of comfort and style at 18 Bonham Road, Mid-Levels West.

Located in a traditional luxury residential area in Mid-Levels West, yoo18BONHAM’s upper floor units offer a 270-degree panoramic view of Victoria Harbour.  The project is close to parks, shopping malls, Soho and Lan Kwai Fong. It is also in the vicinity of several well-known educational institutions: University of Hong Kong, King’s College, St. Paul’s College, Ying Wa Girls’ School and St. Stephen’s Girls’ College.

MTR Sai Ying Pun Station is only a six-minute walk away *and the Central Business District is within walking distance.  Major highways conveniently connect the neighbourhood to every district.  yoo18BONHAM is also a mere stone’s throw from Pound Lane, the site of the Pound Lane Escalator System, which is the planned second escalator system leading from Central to Mid-Levels.

    Cutting edge craftsmanship

yoo18BONHAM, a cutting edge residential project in Hong Kong, is the latest addition to the portfolio of London-based YOO Studio.  Since its founding by John Hitchcox and Phillippe Starck in 1999, YOO Studio has developed 82 signature projects across 57 cities in 24 countries. In the yoo18BONHAM project, YOO Studio has teamed up with Queen Cheers Development Ltd and Winston Development Ltd., the local developers. The developers have appointed JLL as the marketing consultant.

YOO Studio prides itself in taking on board the local context. It does a lot of research on the local context and weaves that back into the project. The YOO Studio’s global expertise has indeed developed a unique understanding of different cultures, to create projects that respect and enliven the cultures in which they live.

    Rare duplexes with imaginative interiors

The project comprises three simplexes, eight duplexes and one single triplex, with saleable areas ranging from about 1,200 to 3,700 sq ft.  The floor heights are about 11.5 feet from floor to floor.

Each unit at yoo18Bonham has two lifts (a main lift and a service lift).  The triplex and each duplex have two private lift lobbies, while each simplex has one private lift lobby.  Hence, the residents of each unit can enjoy a high degree of privacy, as though each unit is a private home.  The lift lobby of each unit is cladded with a different pattern of high quality Italian marble and crystalline stone with a unique set of colours.  Thus, each unit has a lift lobby with a distinctive style.

YOO Studio works only with quality fitting-out contractors and procures furniture only from world-class brands, creating interiors that are imaginative, rare and individual. All units in yoo18BONHAM employ premium building materials and are fitted out with delicate care. They show an understated elegance and sleek modernity that make the flats sumptuous declarations of a joie de vivre.

Built to stand the test of time

Three large stone sculptures have been created by Italian master Nicolas Bertoux.  They have been carved in Milan and shipped to Hong Kong where they grace the ground floor lobby, the Breezy Path vehicle entrance and a wall next to the swimming pool.

Decorations throughout yoo18BONHAM are pure craftsmanship.  The finishing and corners of all the marble, timber and stainless steel are delicately smooth, safe and aesthetically pleasing.  High-quality materials have been used for the front, back and side facades of the building.  The dignified entrance on Bonham Road — decorated with exquisite marble and stainless steel, and a night-lit portal — can stand the test of time.  The entrance on Breezy Path – with an iconic folding gate – is a showcase of elegant panels and charming lamps.

The outer walls of yoo18BONHAM are cladded with high-grade terra cotta tiles from Germany — reducing conduction of heat from the sun in the summer, economising air conditioning resources, and conserving warmth in the winter.  Such environmentally friendly tiles are rarely used in Hong Kong! The building’s green credentials are also exemplified by its walls of green plants installed with automatic sprinkler systems and its horticultural gardens.

    Compelling investment

In addition to the unprecedented craftsmanship in the design and finishing of the building, the capital value of yoo18BONHAM is bound to increase because of its proximity to amenities of modern living, the planned Second Central-to-Mid-Levels Escalator System, and the recently completed MTR South Island Line and extension of the MTR Island Line to Western District.  Properties in yoo18BONHAM are indeed compelling additions to any investment portfolios.
