• Alan Child elected to serve on RICS Governing Council

    3 June 2015 (Hong Kong) – Alan Child, Chairman at Knight Frank Hong Kong, has been elected as the RICS Governing Council member in the China (Hong Kong) constituency, outperforming the keen competition  and winning the support from fellow RICS members in the region. He will be representing China – Hong Kong on the council for a term of 4 years’ service commencing 30 June 2015.

    Alan Child is a Chartered Surveyor with over 40 years’ experience in the United Kingdom, Hong Kong and China property markets. Based in Hong Kong for over 35 years, Alan has worked in both government and private sectors specialising in land resumption, development and management.  Alan acts as an Independent Expert Surveyor, and he has worked on numerous development consultancy projects and studies as well as providing advice on feasibility assessments, land grants, lease modifications, rating & valuation and  aspects of due diligence for public and private funds.  He was the Land Advisor for the acquisition and development of land for Hong Kong’s rail expansion programme.

    Alan is a Fellow of RICS, a Member of the RICS Asia World Regional Board, an RICS Registered Valuer and RICS Hong Kong Registered Expert on Land Matters.

    The 280-meter-tall Lumina Shanghai, developed by Henderson Land Group and designed by Gensler, is the tallest skyscraper in the Xuhui Riverside District.


    A sophisticated yet modern setting was derived by juxtaposition of Indochine-Vietnamese features and wood-fire inspired material palettes. Re-interpretation of the spatial order of a typical Indochine-Vietnamese mansion has been adopted to give hierarchy, layers and details to the space.
