Urban Planning and Financial Analysis Background Will Bolster Consultancy Breadth and Depth
(25 April, 2016, Hong Kong) – Colliers International Hong Kong Limited, part of Colliers International Group Inc.(NASDAQ: CIGI) (TSX: CIG), a global leader in commercial real estate services, announced today that Daniel Shih has joined the company as director of research. Shih brings a unique background in urban planning research and in-depth consultancy, including financial modelling of real estate projects with a focus on site and location variables. He has more than 18 years of professional experience in large-scale land development and consultancy in Hong Kong and China, underpinned by higher degrees in both urban planning and social science.

In his previous role at AECOM, Shih built an 80-strong economic development consultancy team that undertook various studies of cities that are resilient, sustainable and liveable — buildings and urban environments that accommodate change, both natural and man-made, for the benefit of occupants, owners and the wider community. These studies explore the connection of resilient cities and real estate and the impact it has on corresponding investment decisions.

Shih’s appointment is part of a company-wide effort to strengthen qualitative insights that enable our clients to make clear and informed decisions. The expansion of the Hong Kong team, alongside a larger regional research operation that recently welcomed Andrew Haskins as executive director of Research and Advisory Services for Asia, will enable Colliers to better serve the needs of its clients.
In addition to a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Shih has a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and a Master of Arts in Social Science from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He holds memberships of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), American Planning Association (APA), and Urban Land Institute (ULI).
