July 28, 2014, HONG KONG – Dennis Lau and Ng Chun Man Architecture & Engineers (HK) Limited (DLN) today announced the promotions of Alexander Lush and Christine Kwan to Directors of the Hong Kong office. Both Lush and Kwan will report directly to Dennis Lau, Chairman & Managing Director, DLN. The addition of these positions expands the board to 11 directors, which is the highest number in the firm’s 42-year history. The promotions come as DLN continues expansion of its architectural practice both in Hong Kong and in new markets overseas.
Lush trained and began his career in Europe. Since joining DLN in 1996 he has been responsible for the implementation of major DLN projects in Hong Kong and overseas. These include the Sky Towers in Kiev, DLN’s first project in Europe. He has also been closely involved in DLN’s application of the latest Building Information Modeling technology in its practice. Most recently he was responsible for the new master plan of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the competition winning design of the new campus for Universitas Pembangunan Jaya in Indonesia.
During her tenure at DLN Kwan has been a key member of the design team. She has played a leading role in design of landmark DLN projects including the Shenyang New World Exhibition and Convention Centre, the Taipei Metro Dome Commercial Complex, the Nanning Exhibition and Convention Centre Extension and a number of large scale comprehensive urban master plans for different cities in China. In Hong Kong she has been responsible for several prestigious residential developments and is currently responsible for design of the Hong Kong Government’s Taipo Sports Complex and the official Residence of the Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China’s office in Hong Kong.
“Alex and Christine have been Assistant Directors at our firm since 2008 and 2010 respectively. They have significantly contributed to our continued success in recent years,” said DLN’s Chairman & Managing Director, Dennis Lau. “We believe that DLN embodies the best of Hong Kong in its versatility, creativity and ability to adapt to new challenges. Our latest promotions demonstrate our commitment to talented individuals as they grow with us and are part of a continuous strategy of delivering excellence and innovation in all aspects of architectural service wherever we practice” added Lau.
“DLN’s strength in the full spectrum of architectural services is extremely valuable. The office has always provided a highly motivated and collaborative working environment. These are key factors in DLN’s consistent ability to deliver highly original and significant projects” said Lush. “DLN is a great incubator of architectural talent. The culture of the practice encourages both innovation and thoroughness in design. We benefit greatly from being a truly multi-faceted team in terms of experience, background and individual approach to architecture” said Kwan.
“All of DLN’s commissions have a big effect upon our ultra-intense city which cannot be taken lightly. Every project must achieve an appropriate balance between manifold technical, financial, social and environmental considerations. DLN’s ambition is clear: to design quality projects – not grandiose statements. Delivery of each DLN project is a considerable achievement of practical and intellectual skill and it is a privilege to be part of this process.” said Lush.
“What excites me most with my work at DLN is the creativity and passion each of us brings to the table. Working collaboratively across the region on innovative projects that push the envelope of architecture is highly rewarding. DLN embodies the “Hong Kong Dream” – we’re a true blend of Hong Kong heritage with great international flair and knowledge brought by each of the 330 individuals that make up the DLN team,” added Kwan.
