• Camlux Hotel, the First Hotel in Kowloon Bay, Opens in Converted Heritage Hong Kong Factory this April

    29 March 2017

(27 March 2017, Hong Kong) Camlux Hotel will be the first hotel in Kowloon Bay, the high potential district on the east side of Kowloon that is currently being redeveloped into an up-and-coming commercial and residential area.  Soft opening in April 2017, Camlux Hotel will be housed in a converted factory heritage space that features 185 contemporary guest rooms on six levels reminiscent of its owning company’s industrial history.

The new Camlux Hotel has been given a refreshing coat of coral blue to signal a new change of era in the area.

“We are proud to be a homegrown hotel brand and are delighted to take part in conserving and revitalising Hong Kong’s heritage with Camlux Hotel,” said Mr Calvin Wong, General Manager of Camlux Hotel. “Kowloon Bay today is emerging with new commercial buildings and rapid eclectic developments which have led to the demand of introducing a quality hotel in the area.”

While the exterior façade of the Hotel remains the same, the building has been given a refreshing coat of coral blue to signal a new change of era in the area.  The architectural team overseeing this unique heritage project embraced constraints of the existing factory space, and opened it up to allow more natural light penetration. Two unique courtyards are also refashioned to preserve the traditional industrial sky-well whilst creating more space.

The retro-modern six-storey Hotel features 103 Cosy Rooms, 70 Comfy Rooms, 10 Family Rooms and 2 Studio Rooms, ranging from 22 to 32 square metres, rivalling other quality hotels in the city.  The non-smoking property also provide extensive services and amenities including free Wi-Fi and Smart TVs that can be conveniently connected to personal entertainment.

All guest rooms feature unique designs inspired by iconic house-ware products that have been used in the past decades, such as wall lamp shades reminiscent of practical and colourful vacuum flasks.  The lobby floor also features a playful compilation of various materials that were used to manufacture the vacuum flasks, like brass, copper, stainless steel, glass, and coloured plastics.

A casual and relaxing dining space, Café 15, located on the Ground Floor will be serving quality international fare for guests and locals to enjoy, from Continental breakfast, to set lunches, Happy Hour delights and an all-day menu.

The Hotel also showcases a meeting room and conference room, a 24-hour gym, on-call medical services; and other services such as currency exchange, laundry and dry cleaning, luggage storage, and limousine service.

Located on Wang Kwong Road, Camlux Hotel is conveniently situated near Kowloon Bay International Trade and Exhibition Centre (KITEC), MegaBox, and office buildings in the district. It is within walking distance to Kowloon Bay MTR station, and provides complimentary in town shuttle bus service to shopping districts on Nathan Road as well as the Kowloon Airport Express Link at regular intervals.

“It is an honour to open Camlux Hotel in the same building as the former factory,” said Mr Calvin Wong, General Manager of Camlux Hotel. “We are also pleased to play an active role in revitalising the district of Kowloon Bay as well as contributing to Hong Kong’s niche in providing top quality service and hospitality.”

To celebrate the soft opening of Camlux Hotel, 50% off the Best Available Rate will be offered for online bookings until 31 August 2017, subject to availability.
