(24 Aug 2021, Hong Kong) CBRE is proud to be the first Fortune 500 commercial real estate services company to receive a Property Management Company License.
“This underlines our commitment to providing unparalleled property and facilities management services to our occupier tenants and owners,” said Thomas Lam, Head of Property Management, CBRE Hong Kong. “We are very pleased to gain this recognition for our dedication to the safety, health and comfort of our clients and our consideration of the public environment.”
CBRE’s Hong Kong Property Management team consists of a large team of professionals managing over 130 assets. They have the skills, resilience, and resourcefulness to deliver the best outcomes for clients, even in the face of challenges created by the pandemic.
“The License will reinforce our clients’ confidence in CBRE’s world-class management of their assets,” said Lam. “We also believe that, by meeting and supporting the HKSAR government’s regulation, we can help to strengthen Hong Kong’s property management industry as a whole.”
Recognition of vital roles
The License was issued by The Property Management Services Authority (PMSA), a statutory body established under the Property Management Services Ordinance (PMSO) to regulate property management services and promote the development of the property management industry for enhanced quality and professionalism.
The Property Management Industry Licensing Regime (Licensing Regime) came into operation on 1 August in 2020 with a 3-year transitional period.
The License sets out minimum qualifications for PMCs and PMPs and, under the regulatory regime, PMSA has the power to enforce the PMSO, issue codes of conduct, and take disciplinary action against any PMC or PMP which fails to adequately regulate and control the provision of property management services.
