(20 November 2018, Hong Kong) The Construction Industry Council (CIC) today held the CIC Construction Innovation Award 2019 Launching Ceremony at Construction Industry Council – Zero Carbon Building. Mr. CHAN Ka-kui, Chairman of CIC, Ir Ringo YU, Judging Panel Chair of the Award, and some Judging Panel Members of the Award, including Dr. CHEUNG Tin-cheung, Mr. Thomas HO and Prof. Roger FLANAGAN, together with Ir Albert CHENG, Executive Director of CIC, jointly officiated the launching ceremony with over 180 guests from the industry, marking the opening for the Award this year.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Ir. Ringo YU, Judging Panel Chair of the Award introduced that the aim of the Construction Innovation Award is to spearhead the transformation of the industry through innovation. Productivity, sustainability and safety are the three key areas of the CIC Construction Innovation Award 2019.
Mr. CHAN Ka-kui, Chairman of CIC, also mentioned that Hong Kong’s construction is facing critical challenges, such as ageing workforce and high construction cost. To tackle the challenges, innovation has become an essential source of competitive advantage in today’s competitive world. Therefore, CIC has been organising the Construction Innovation Award on a biennial basis since 2015 to drive the innovation in construction industry, hoping that the construction projects are in an efficient, safe, and green manner.
CIC will continue to proactively promote the development of innovative technologies in construction industry, co-creating a new era of the industry with safety, productivity and environmental protection. The CIC Construction Innovation Award 2019 is now open for submission, and the deadline is 28 June 2019.
