• “Construction Month 2025” and “ZCP Future Mobility Exhibition”

    31 October 2025

Hong Kong • 31 October 2025 – The opening ceremony of the Construction Industry Council’s (CIC) annual signature event “Construction Month 2025” and the “ZCP Future Mobility Exhibition” was successfully held today at the CIC-Zero Carbon Park (CIC-ZCP).

The ceremony was officiated by Miss Pamela LAM, Deputy Secretary for Development (Works), Mr. Ringo MOK, Director of Drainage Services, Ir Prof. Thomas HO, Chairman of the CIC, Ir Albert CHENG, Executive Director of the CIC, and Mr. Ivan FU, Chairperson of the Zero Carbon Building Management Board.

Uniting Industry to Unveil the Green Chapter towards Sustainability
Since “Construction Month” was launched in 2018, it has become the CIC’s annual signature event and an important platform for promoting sustainability. This year’s “Construction Month” is themed “Green Chapter towards Sustainability”, which focuses on technology, safety, green building and sustainability. Comprising more than 30 exciting activities, this signature event facilitates industry exchange and experience sharing, while deepening the community’s understanding of and participation in carbon neutrality and green building.

In his welcome remarks, Ir Prof. Thomas HO, Chairman of the CIC, said, “The ‘Construction Month’ has received strong support from the professionals across the industry and our green partners over the years, and has been well received by both the industry and the public. The theme of this year’s ‘Construction Month’ is ‘Green Chapter towards Sustainability’, and it’s kicked off with the concurrently held ‘ZCP Future Mobility Exhibition’. The CIC will continue to drive industry development, introduce technologies to enhance our professional image, and strengthen community connection and engagement to shape a greener, more livable future.”

In her address at the Ceremony, Miss Pamela LAM, Deputy Secretary for Development (Works) said that for the “Green Chapter towards Sustainability”, both talent development and technology application are indispensable. The Development Bureau have collaborated with the CIC and the education sector to launch the “STEAM UP” project, producing STEAM teaching and learning materials with construction industry as the theme for a total of 1,000 primary and secondary schools across Hong Kong. This not only enriches students’ knowledge of construction but also encourages them to set career goals and pursue future opportunities in the construction industry and related professions. The government also encourages enterprises to utilise the $2.2 billion of “Construction Innovation and Technology Fund” to research, develop, and adopt innovative technologies, thereby enhancing productivity, improving site safety, and boosting environmental performance.

Ir Albert CHENG, Executive Director of the CIC, said, “The ‘Construction Month’ not only demonstrates the construction industry’s determination to drive low-carbon transformation and adoption of innovative technologies, but it also sets out a clear blueprint for the industry’s sustainable development. We encourage both industry and the public to experience first-hand innovative technologies and green concepts, and to witness a new milestone for green and smart construction in Hong Kong’s construction industry.”

CIC-ZCP’s Evolution towards a Shared Sustainable Vision Since it was opened in 2012, the CIC-ZCP has been functioning as an “Urban Green Lung”. For the first time, former and current Chairpersons of the Zero Carbon Building Management Board were invited to highlight CIC-ZCP’s development since its opening, sharing how the facility evolved from an initial zero-carbon building into a driver of green innovation and public education, highlighting the collective achievements in advancing sustainability. Mr. Ivan FU, Chairperson of the Zero Carbon Building Management Board, noted that since its establishment, CIC-ZCP has been not only a low-carbon building demonstration hub, but also an educational platform for future talents. He hoped that their sharing will inspire the next generation to further integrating education, innovation and sustainability, and put green ideas into practice.

    ZCP Future Mobility Exhibition
This year’s “Construction Month” is kicked off by the three-day “ZCP Future Mobility Exhibition”, which showcases the latest technologies including autonomous vehicles, hydrogen-powered drones, patrol robotic dogs and powerful pumping robots. The exhibition aims to help the public learn more about the infinite possibilities of future mobility and encourages them to live out a sustainable lifestyles. Through technological innovation and industry collaboration, CIC-ZCP aims to propel smart mobility, green energy and sustainable development, an important step in the Green Chapter towards Sustainability.

STEAM Education Board Game “Zero Carbon Agent”
To further promote STEAM education and nurture future construction talent, CIC-ZCP has launched a new board game titled “Zero Carbon Agent”. By bringing gameplay into schools, the initiative guides students to explore CIC-ZCP’s diverse eco-friendly concepts. In collaboration with industry partners for the first time, the board game incorporates the concept of sustainable construction materials to deepen the next generation’s understanding of green building. During “Construction Month 2025”, a giant “Zero Carbon Agent” game board is installed at CIC-ZCP’s Eco Plaza for photo opportunities and enjoy a hands-on, fun-learning journey.

    Well-being Mi-Landscape Components
Another highlight of “Construction Month 2025” is the grand opening of “Play Unit 3.0”, a Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) landscape component. The concept is originated from the award-winning works of the “Well-being: Landscape Components Design Competition,” co-organised by the Hong Kong Institute of Landscape Architects with the Housing Bureau, the CIC and CIC-ZCP. Award-winning secondary and tertiary students put innovative thinking and the Mi∞ concept into practice, demonstrating how MiC can create a greener, well-being future and reflecting the next generation’s understanding and practice of green building.

Over 30 Magnificent Events Connecting the Industry and the Public
During “Construction Month 2025”, more than 30 events related to the construction industry and low-carbon living will be held, including “Construction Innovation Expo 2025”, “Construction Workers Carnival 2025”, “Construction Safety Culture 3.0”, “Low Carbon Movie Night”, the annual “ZCP Green Heroes Acknowledgement Ceremony”, and the “ZCP Newly Emerged Sports Day”. Through a diverse programme, the event encourages both the industry and the public to practice low-carbon living and promotes sustainability.
