Australian brewer Broo has chosen Decibel Architecture to design a world-class, state-of-the-art, environmentally sustainable brewery, to be built on a 15ha greenfield site in Ballarat in Victoria.
The Decibel plans call for the use of the most advanced building technologies in the construction of the brewery, and the use of environmentally sustainable processes in its operation. Central to the design is the circle motif, found throughout the site: circles like the ripples on the surface of lakes and ponds, bringing to mind the circular dimension of bottles and glasses.
Bodies of water will occupy 6ha of the brewery complex and solar panels will take up another 4.8ha, still leaving room for an outdoor space for concerts, expos, markets and other events – a space that can hold 10,000 people. An eyrie 45m above the ground will give all-round views of the brewery complex and Ballarat.
