(4 February 2016, Hong Kong) – It’s time to tidy up your book shelf and donate books for a charitable cause! Entering its seventh year, Swire Properties’ Community Ambassador has joined The Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong (BGCA) to kickstart our annual charity campaign “Books for Love”.The campaign begins with a two-month book drive to collect books until 31 March 2016, and will be followed by a charity book sale held at ArtisTree in Taikoo Place between 21 and 24 April 2016.
With the aim of promoting a love of reading in a green and affordable way and contributing to a meaningful cause, the charity campaign has received an overwhelming response since its launch in 2009. Last year, the campaign collected more than 60,000 books, welcomed almost 15,000 visitors and raised a donation of more than HK$510,000.
Collection drop boxeshave been placed in various commercial properties managed by Swire Properties, service centres of BGCA, as well as offices of the companies under the Swire group such as Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon. There are a total of 42 collection points around Hong Kong.
The collected books will be sorted and categorised by Swire Properties’ Community Ambassadors and BGCA volunteers, and will be put on sale for HK$10 each. All proceeds from the sale will go to BGCA to help create more educational opportunities for children in need.
