Ninety families participate in a community treasure hunt to celebrate the opening of the new footbridge
First conceived by Swire Properties, the project gained momentum following the 2016 Policy Address, which encouraged private sector participation in building pedestrian links to provide safe, comfortable and convenient networks. The footbridge exemplifies Swire Properties’ commitment to the long-term development of the neighbourhood. Open to the public around the clock, the footbridge provides direct access to nearby commercial buildings and government facilities, including the Tamar Government Complex and the Legislative Council Complex. Together with One Queensway Bridge, the expanded footbridge network will accommodate the increasing foot traffic driven by Admiralty’s expanded MTR network and the growing workforce. The footbridge’s design prioritises sustainability and inclusivity, with features such as natural ventilation, energy-efficient skylight windows and lightweight steel construction to minimise visual and environmental impact. Planters along the walkway create a pleasant walking experience while the footbridge offers lift connections, ensuring accessibility to all members of the public
