• The New “Home” of Alfred Dunhill in Shanghai

    28 March 2009

Committed to advancing the pursuit of male indulgence, Alfred Dunhill is the definitive name in British luxury menswear and accessories.

As such, in 2007 Alfred Dunhill introduced a unique global concept which embraces male luxury and retail lifestyle – the Homes of Alfred Dunhill. Reflecting the brand’s pillars of masculinity, functionality, quality and Britishness, these Homes represent the third dimension of luxury – The Experience, allowing the customer to truly live the brand, to be invited “Home”, to be a guest of the brand.

The true spiritual Home of Alfred Dunhill is in London, which opened in September 2008. Found in the heart of Mayfair, the London Home takes pride of place in the eponymous Bourdon House – formerly the London home of the Duke of Westminster. As well as offering a superior and effortless retail experience, this Home features a spa, humidor, private cinema and bespoke leather services. However, London is also personified by a private member’s club, Alfred’s, situated discreetly within Bourdon House.

The inaugural Home of Alfred Dunhill, spread over three floors on the exclusive and well-appointed Ginza Chuo Street in the heart of Tokyo presents Alfred Dunhill’s distinctly modern Home equipped with an elegant lounge area overlooking the street, undoubtedly the most exceptional valet and dry cleaning service in Japan, and an exclusive three chair barbershop.

As one of the earliest international luxury brands to enter the Mainland China market, Alfred Dunhill has long paid great attention to the market and its huge potential. Fifteen years ago, Alfred Dunhill boldly launched its brand in Beijing and Shanghai while many other luxury brands were still uncertain of the business opportunities.  With its subtle but luxurious design, the new “Home” concept will help to strengthen Alfred Dunhill’s approach to true luxury, making each customer an ambassador of a certain “Art de vivre”…

Opening at the end of 2008, the Alfred Dunhill Shanghai Home is located in the heart of the city, Huai Hai Road 796, Luwan District, in a magnificent, perfectly restored 1920’s neoclassical style villa in the former French concession.  The Shanghai Home presents a superior and inimitable experience, surrounded by a beautiful English garden.  This former residence hosts, in addition to unique and exclusive retail, a leading contemporary art gallery, a fine dining restaurant and bar, a traditional English barber and a personal concierge service.

The retail presence in the Shanghai Home is set over two floors, catering to every modern gentleman’s need.  The ground floor reflects Alfred Dunhill’s commitment to personalization, luxury and exclusivity by presenting the Travel & Discovery Room.  Various Alfred Dunhill museum products that reflect Alfred’s chic dandyism and free spirit into today are displayed here as well as exclusive Alfred Dunhill products that cannot be found elsewhere.

As a leather specialist, Dunhill is offering for sale a wide variety of luxury leather products and a selection of vintage leather luggage selected by “Bentley’s,” an acclaimed antique store in London. The second floor boasts the thoroughly impressive Alfred Dunhill menswear emporium – simply the very best in casual chic and formal tailoring, including the White Shirt Bar and Bespoke Tailoring Room.  Customers can experience a traditional British bespoke tailoring service that is headed up by our Savile Row trained Master Tailor Daniel Williams, who will be based out of the Home.  In addition, on this floor, there is a three-chair traditional English barber offering grooming space.
