On 28 May, (RLB) Rider Levett Bucknall Director, Daniel Chiu, and Project QS Donald Kuong attended the launch ceremony of the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) for the Macau Light Rail Transit (LRT) East Line South Section. The 4.8 km segment includes three underground stations and features Macau’s largest 12.1 m diameter shield tunnel, designed to tackle complex geological conditions using advanced technology.
The full 7.7 km LRT East Line stretches from the Border Gate to Taipa, comprising viaducts, tunnels, six underground stations, and a railway system, executed by two distinct civil contractors. The above-mentioned 4.8 km segment is part of the LRT East Line. Scheduled to begin operations in 2029, the LRT East Line is a vital infrastructure project supporting Macau’s border connectivity, urban development, and integrated transport network.
RLB is proud to provide QS consultancy services for this smart and green mass transit system, contributing to infrastructure development in Macau.
