• Harbour Business Forum and Business Environment Council Announce Winners of Harbourfront Design Competition

    (4 June 2024, Hong Kong) Harbour Business Forum (“HBF”) and Business Environment Council Limited (“BEC”) are pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the “Victoria Harbour 2035: Destinations to Rejuvenate Hong Kong” Competition and the subsequent Prize Presentation Ceremony held on 3 June.

    The Prize Presentation Ceremony held at BEC Auditorium celebrated the remarkable achievements of talented participants who contributed their innovative ideas and practical designs for the designated catchment sites along Victoria Harbour. The competition attracted numerous teams from esteemed local universities, including The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and City University of Hong Kong.

    During the ceremony, the winning teams were recognised and awarded for their outstanding contributions to the future development of Victoria Harbour. The professional jury panel of industry experts evaluated the entries based on their creativity, feasibility, and alignment with the competition’s objectives.

    Mr Mark Peacock, Chair of HBF, said, “We are proud of the participating teams who showcased their immense talent, dedication, and passion for the revitalisation of Victoria Harbour. The Prize Presentation Ceremony was a momentous occasion to acknowledge their exceptional achievements and contributions.”

    Mr Simon Ng, Chief Executive Officer of BEC, commended the students’ efforts and added, “The ‘Victoria Harbour 2035: Destinations to Rejuvenate Hong Kong’ Design Competition provided a platform for young talents to envision and propose innovative designs that will shape the future of our harbourfront. We congratulate the winners and all participants for their bright ideas and commitment to sustainability.”

    The Prize Presentation Ceremony also featured a panel discussion of industry leaders who highlighted the significance of innovative design in transforming Victoria Harbour into a vibrant, accessible, and sustainable destination. Attendees had the opportunity to view the winning designs and gain insights into the creative visions that will contribute to the future development of Hong Kong’s iconic waterfront.

    The winners of the “Victoria Harbour 2035: Destinations to Rejuvenate Hong Kong” Design Competition are USTPPC from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Team A from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Engaging the next generations as future custodians of our harbourfront, “Victoria Harbour 2035: Destinations to Rejuvenate Hong Kong” Competition aims to encourage and collect input to the strategic visioning of the harbourfront and solicit students’ aspirations for the future of Hong Kong. The competition also serves as a platform for students to meet future potential employers and gain valuable real-life project experience, while raising the profile of harbourfront issues among businesses, citizens, media and public authorities.

    The BEAM Affiliate Education Programme aims to equip participants with knowledge in green building. Now, over 1,400 practitioners have become certified "BEAM Affiliate" after completing the training programme organised by BEAM Society Limited.
