• HKIA Cross-Strait Architectural Design Symposium and Awards 2015

    (Hong Kong, 30th March 20150) – Organized by The Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA), and sponsored by Create Hong Kong (CreateHK) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), the HKIA Cross-Strait Architectural Design Symposium and Awards (CADSA) 2015 was successfully concluded by drawing international attention and innovative dialogues on cross-strait architecture, as well as unveiling the award recipients on 28th March 2015 at JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong.

    The HKIA organized the CADSA 2015, in collaboration with Guangzhou Association of Geotechnical Survey & Engineering Design, Shenzhen Registered Architects Association, Taipei Architects Association and The Architects Association of Macau. The full day event was kicked off by the Honourable Paul CHAN Mo Po, MH, JP,  Secretary for Development of the Government of the HKSAR for the Symposium (CADS). In the evening, The Honourable John C. TSANG, GBM, JP, Financial Secretary, The Government of the HKSAR officiated at the Award Presentation Dinner.

    Mr. Daniel CHI Wuh Cherng, Chairman of the CADSA 2015 Organizing Committee, who is also the Honorary Secretary of the HKIA, remarks that, “the CADSA 2015 is held with great success today with enormous support from the architectural sectors and academic institute. On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I would like to thank the speakers and panelists for taking the time and effort to attend the symposium and create meaningful dialogues and sharing with our participants. Our appreciation also goes to the Guests of Honor, Jurors, collaborating and supporting organizations, as well as sponsors for making a truly acclaimed award program and a symposium of this magnitude possible. My heartfelt congratulations to all the awardees for their excellent works!”

    HKIA Cross-Strait Architectural Design Symposium 2015

    The Symposium is conceived as a vital platform to assemble those eminent and well experienced architects from the Cross-Strait regions together with some famous overseas architects as the Keynote Speakers and Panelists at the Symposium.     The HKIA Cross-Strait Architectural Design Awards (CADA) 2015 is organized in promoting for the excellence of architectural design in the Mainland China, Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong and hence, to give recognition to those outstanding designs in Cross-Strait regions over the past 10 years.     Mr. Leslie LU Lam, Chairman of Awards Committee, CADSA 2015, said “The CADA 2015 is organized to take a snapshot of the state of our contemporary Asian-Chinese art ofarchitecture in the context of history, locality and geo-politics and economics. While there are tremendous differences amongst Cross-Strait architectural culture, remarkable and continual efforts to interpret and present unique cultural character have made tremendous stride towards the location of cultural identity while simultaneously embracing social responsibility, ecological sensitivity, working creatively in face of diminishing resources.”

    In addition, The HKIA has organized the debut Student Category of CADA this year to promote exchange amongst architecture students in the Cross-Strait regions and to serve as a platform for nurturing future architects. Nearly 100 nominations were received from the said regions.
