• Latest industry innovations on show at R+T Asia 2017

    18 April 2017

Record numbers of visitors and exhibitors were in attendance at R+T Asia 2017. Held annually since 2005 in Shanghai, China, R+T Asia is the leading business-to-business trade fair for the construction and fittings market in the Asia-Pacific region.

Full steam ahead: R+T Asia has been a magnet for visitors for many years together with the DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR and Cadex events held at the same time.

    Building on the past

Held from 21 to 23 March, 519 exhibitors in the sun protection systems, and doors and gates industries showcased their products to more than 31,000 visitors, an increase of almost 15% from last year’s event, and a rise of 39% since 2015. Over 9000 international guests were in attendance, arriving from Taiwan, India, Australia, Korea and the United States, among others.

In a statement, event organisers said; “R+T Asia has long outgrown its infancy and is today the most important trade fair for the industry in Asia.”

    Building a smarter home

A key area for development featured during R+ T Asia 2017 was the need for greater energy efficiency in the Chinese market. Alongside the International Window and Door Summit, exhibitors showcased how the integration of sun protection systems into so-called ‘passive’ houses can lead to improved building insulation and significant energy savings. Businesses in the doors and gates sector also considered how mobile applications and other technologies will soon be integrated into the smart homes of the future.

The IWDS – International Window and Door Summit is an integral part of R+T Asia and discussed pioneering issues for sun protection and doors/gates.

The InnovAction Award was presented to a number of industry attendees for design excellence in the doors and windows sector. On show at the InnovAction Hub, both a battery-operated sun protection system by Lutron Electronics Co. Ltd. and an anti-theft roller shutter by FuJian AnLin Intelligence Joint Stock Co. Ltd were recognised by the judging panel.

The Smart 2025 Experience Pavilion featured a range of smart lighting solutions and locking systems for the modern home and workplace. In addition, the MATERIA exhibit showcased the multifunctional uses of cork, concrete, silk, wool and metal in sound attenuation and air filtration.

The next R+T Asia event will take place from 21 to 23 March 2018 in Shanghai. For more information, go to http://rtasia.org/en/
