    Coldplay’s Four-Day World-Class Music Extravaganza Attracts 200,000 Fans

(Hong Kong, April 12, 2025) – Following its opening celebrations in March, Kai Tak Sports Park (KTSP) proudly welcomed British rock legends Coldplay for their long-awaited return to Hong Kong after 16 years. The band’s electrifying concert series, held on April 8, 9, 11, and 12, attracted approximately 200,000 fans from across the globe – including attendees from overseas, the Chinese Mainland, and Hong Kong. Inside the state-of-the-art Kai Tak Stadium, the concerts mesmerized audiences with a breathtaking fusion of cutting-edge visuals and immersive sound., They delivered an unparalleled, interactive live music experience.

Kai Tak Sports Park is a fully integrated sports, leisure and entertainment destination. The 28-hectare Sports Park is part of the redevelopment of the site of the old Hong Kong International Airport in Kai Tak. The precinct features a 50,000-seat Kai Tak Stadium featuring a retractable roof, Kai Tak Arena – and indoor sports centre with the flexibility to host community sports and events of up to 10,000 seats, and Kai Tak Youth Sports Ground, an outdoor track and field facility with a capacity of 5,000 seats. These venues are complemented with extensive open spaces for events and leisure, together with dedicated retail and harbourfront dining spaces.

As KTSP’s first international large-scale concert, every detail of the Coldplay shows was meticulously planned and executed seamlessly. The team leveraged experience from previous events, working closely with the event organizer, government departments, public transport operators, and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth and exceptional experience, from security checks and in-venue dining to transport arrangements.

Complementing the performances, the diverse dining options at Kai Tak Mall, food concessions at the Kai Tak Stadium, and the “Kai Tak Dining Cove Carnival” – operating Fridays through Sundays – offered a wide array of international cuisines. For egress, nearly 50,000 attendees departed efficiently each night within 20 minutes, with smooth dispersal via nearby transport links. This success further reinforces KTSP’s readiness to host future global sports and entertainment spectacles, further strengthening Hong Kong’s status as Asia’s Events Capital.

Coldplay’s commitment to sustainability also resonated with KTSP’s green vision. Since last month’s Hong Kong Sevens, the Sports Park’s advanced waste decomposition system has continued to play a pivotal role – processing up to 600 kg per day of food waste, used paper cups and containers into compost, significantly reducing event waste.
The concert series captivated fans with Coldplay’s iconic hits, electrifying atmosphere, and stunning visuals. Each song ignited passionate sing-alongs, uniting audiences of all backgrounds and ages in the new KTSP – a momentous and unforgettable musical experience.

John Sharkey, CEO of Kai Tak Sports Park, remarked: “As Hong Kong’s largest integrated sports and entertainment landmark, we are thrilled to welcome back Coldplay in our state-of-the-art facility, underscoring our commitment to bringing world-class sports and entertainment to the city. The success of this concert series can be attributed to the collective effort and collaboration of multiple parties, including our audience, to whom we extend our heartfelt thanks. This milestone sets a strong foundation for upcoming events, which we are confident in delivering well, as we continue to advance and help elevate Hong Kong’s reputation as Asia’s Event Capital.”
