3 April 2025, Hong Kong – The joint venture of Chevalier (Construction) Company Limited and China Railway Construction Group Company Limited (“Chevalier-China Railway Joint Venture”) is delighted to announce the completion of the design and construction of Hong Kong’s first light public housing project at Yau Pok Road in Yuen Long as highlighted by a move-in ceremony held earlier.

The project covers an area of approximately 87,000 square meters, providing a total of 2,156 light public housing units across 10 residential buildings.
As the main contractor, Chevalier-China Railway Joint Venture adopted the Chevalier Full MiC Solution with a total of 3,075 MiC modules, including flat units, corridors and stairs. With these prefabricated modules and the adoption of the latest technologies including MiMEP, smart production and Building Information Modelling (BIM), the construction period has been significantly shortened to only 350 days from groundbreaking to completion, in addition to minimising the impacts on the local environment and nearby residents and contributing to sustainable development goals.
The Yau Pok Road project covers an area of approximately 87,000 square meters. The Yau Pok Road project provides a total of 2,156 light public housing units across 10 residential buildings to address housing needs.

The Chevalier Group, China Railway Construction Group, module manufacturer China Construction Science and Industry Corporation Limited, and the Housing Bureau witnessed the last batch of MiC modules shipped from Huizhou in September 2024. The move-in ceremony of Yau Pok Road Light Public Housing project held earlier in Yuen Long, marking the successful completion of Hong Kong’s first light public housing.
The Yau Pok Road project took only 350 days from groundbreaking to completion
The last MiC module of the project at Choi Hing Road in Ngau Tau Kok was successfully installed last month. Together with the Tuen Mun Area 3A project and the completed Yau Pok Road project, Chevalier-China Railway Joint Venture expects to provide over 6,000 light public housing units for Hong Kong by end of 2025.
