Theresa Yeung started her term as President of the HKIP on 19 June 2025. Drawing on 30 years of service with the Institute, she brings a deep appreciation for the dedication of its members and the vital role planners play in shaping cities. In her new role, she aims to guide the profession through the challenges of the “New Normal”, including climate resilience, housing supply, technological change, and community well-being. Her vision is to foster innovation and bridge technical expertise, policy innovation, and people to create healthy, resilient and inclusive cities.

“Let us work together to advance planning, practice innovation, and strengthen Hong Kong’s role as a key hub in the global planning community, co-creating excellence with partners worldwide,” said Theresa.

Ir Alice Chow assumed the presidency of the HKIE on 24 June 2025, following her election at the institution’s 50th Annual General Meeting. As the first female President in HKIE’s history, her appointment marks a historic milestone during the institution’s golden jubilee. Her theme for the 2025/2026 session, ‘Together we RISE’, highlights Resilience, Innovation, Sustainability, and Equity.

She said: “As engineers, we are not just problem solvers; we are builders of a better tomorrow. ‘Together we RISE’ reflects our commitment to shaping a future-ready profession and strengthening Hong Kong’s engineering and innovation ecosystem.”

Arup celebrates the achievements of both leaders and fully supports their vision for advancing the planning and engineering professions in Hong Kong. With Professor Sam Chow, Arup Fellow and Director, serving as President of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Hong Kong (CILTHK), the three Arup professionals are sharing their skills and expertise to benefit the industry and shape a better Hong Kong.
