(14 March 2023, KUALA LUMPUR) ARCHIDEX, the Asia’s Leading Architecture Business Event is set to reopen its doors this 26 to 29 July at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre to welcome the biggest industry gathering of the architectural and building community, professionals, business and trade players.
Jointly organised by the Malaysian Institute of Architects (Pertubuhan Arkitek Malaysia – PAM) and C.I.S, ARCHIDEX is an official event of the annual Kuala Lumpur Architecture Festival (KLAF) that features a robust exhibition and marketplace, the concurrent PAM DATUM Conference, Forums, Trade Talks, Industry and Association Meetings, Business Matching Programmes, Networking Sessions and Awards for industry recognition.
Across the four days, the event has been slated to convene up to 36,000 visitors from close to 90 countries to attend exhibition and conference that is expect to close up to RM800 million worth of business transactions.
C.I.S President and Joint Organiser, Dato’ Vincent Lim during the ARCHIDEX Preview mentioned that the Business Events industry is in full swing and has become a highly competitive field: “We’re expecting over 550 local and international exhibitors from 12 countries and regions including Malaysia to occupy 1,400 exhibition stands across all 10 exhibition halls”.
Lim added that, “As ARCHIDEX continue to connect, collaborate and celebrate architecture, the exhibition this year will aim to engage, evoke and evolve the architectural and building community to interconnect for the present and future generations through a strong future theme that presents the ideas of sustainability, future architecture and wellbeing”.
As PAM celebrates its 100 years and ARCHIDEX is part of its centennial celebration, PAM President and Joint Organiser, Assoc. Prof. (Ind.) Ar Sarly Adre bin Sarkum took the same opportunity to call out to the PAM members and the architectural and building community at the preview. He mentioned: “Let us start to fabricate such a future where we are generators of the creative economy, impacting the built environment and building legacies that matter to the next generation”.
Ar Sarly continues to share that the event is where the fraternity will continue to learn from each other “ARCHIDEX and DATUM is a place where tremendous amount of talent is showcased throughout and it is a wonderful platform for young architects to expand their mindsets and be inspired”.
“Greater public engagement is necessary for architects to better realise future cities that will meet the challenges we face and, at the same time, more accurately project the hopes and dreams of all Malaysians. In order to create better cities for tomorrow, better future cities”, he added.
Marking ARCHIDEX’s strength of more than 20 years to create a platform that unites the architecture, interior design and building industry in trade and knowledge-sharing at its highest level, the Minister of Local Government Development, YB Tuan Nga Kor Ming noted that ARCHIDEX together with all the industry players and housing stakeholders could put Malaysia on the global map as the country braces for growth and challenges.
YB Tuan Nga said: “There are many areas for industry players here to focus on, some are more critical than others; Sustainability, Environment, Electric Vehicles, Natural Resources, Urban Planning Growth and Climate Change and the Ministry reaffirms our commitment to raising the level of living and wellbeing of the Rakyat we serve.”
He continued: “ARCHIDEX has always set its sights on the future and to succeed sustainably, the entire ecosystem must function as one”. This is where he hopes to also see a synergy and collaboration from every stakeholder at ARCHIDEX and DATUM to rise and move into the future together in order to spur the growth and development for all.
