• Autodesk Hosts Eleventh Annual Hong Kong BIM Awards to Celebrate Innovative Applications of BIM Technology

    12 November 2017

(10 November 2017, Hong Kong) Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) today held the eleventh annual Autodesk Hong Kong BIM Awards presentation ceremony. The annual awards provide a platform to recognize organizations that have displayed exemplary use of Building Information Modeling in projects. The awards also include a student category for university students to participate, as Autodesk believes it is crucial for the industry to identify and recognize the innovative minds of students, for they are the future of the workforce.

Success in the future will go to those who can innovate with speed while applying insights about the customers they’re seeking to address; and BIM technologies will help their users do both. By shining the spotlight on these outstanding BIM applications, Autodesk hopes to inspire more organizations and talent to consider adopting BIM to enhance the productivity, collaboration and safety of their construction works.

Autodesk also announced the availability of new software additions to its Architecture, Engineering and Construction Collection. The new tools extend Revit models for virtual reality, fabrication, computational design, and analysis support for BIM processes from planning and design through preconstruction will be available to AEC subscribers at no additional cost. The expansion of the suite is made due to user feedback. As users have voiced out the increasing importance of visualization, analysis and fabrication capabilities, the expanded repertoire will help users stay competitive in the long run.

Dr. Wendy Lee, Country Sales Manager of Autodesk, Hong Kong & Macau. “What an exciting year it has been! Once again, we gather today to celebrate the extraordinary effort the industry has extended to adopt BIM. It’s also important to remind ourselves that, while BIM is always evolving, its applications are not restricted to the most cutting edge, the winning projects represent the future of making things for the AEC industry. The groundbreaking nature of these great projects shows how the AEC industry is rapidly embracing connected BIM technologies. We look forward to seeing how the industry continues to exceed our expectations with what they can do with BIM.”

The government is also promoting the wider adoption of BIM in the major projects in 2018, enabling the industry experts to create and collaborate more effectively with minimized risks and resources. For this year’s Awards, Autodesk invited Dr David Chung, JP, Under Secretary for Innovation and Technology, HKSAR Government, and Ir. Liu Chun Shan, JP, Under Secretary for Development, HKSAR Government as guests of honor and award presenters.
