• ARCHIDEX 2025 Spotlights Sustainable Design and Global Networking

    1 April 2025

Malaysia’s leading architecture expo set to break new ground with international participation and the debut of Kuala Lumpur Architecture Week

The International Architecture, Interior Design & Building Exhibition (ARCHIDEX), the largest architecture exhibition in Malaysia, is set to be the most ambitious yet in 2025. YB Tuan Nga Kor Ming, Minister of Housing and Local Government, officiated the soft launch of ARCHIDEX 2025 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

A cornerstone of the annual Kuala Lumpur Architecture Festival (KLAF), ARCHIDEX 2025 will run in conjunction with the inaugural KL Architecture Week.

This year’s edition is targeted to feature 850 exhibitors across 34,000 gross square metres of exhibition space across MITEC and the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). ARCHIDEX 2025 will welcome an estimated 56,000 visitors from the architecture, interior design and building industry, professionals, and enthusiasts from more than 110 countries and regions.

    An international architectural platform

During his speech, Nga highlighted: “Over the past three years, our partnership between ARCHIDEX and my ministry has been vital in driving growth and innovation within the architectural and building sectors. As we prepare for our ASEAN Chairmanship next year, we anticipate enhanced synergy, increased participation from buyers, expanded business opportunities, and improved networking events. These efforts aim to elevate housing standards and ensure resilient infrastructure.”

ARCHIDEX is a unique platform to showcase architectural innovations and push the boundaries of sustainable architecture and design. It is jointly organised by Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) and C.I.S.

Adjunct Prof. Ar. Adrianta Aziz, President of PAM shared: “We are particularly excited about DATUM 2025, which is a key feature of ARCHIDEX. A series of DATUM talks will be carried out at both locations next year, featuring a comprehensive lineup of local and international speakers who will showcase a wide spectrum of inspiring projects.”

ARCHIDEX 2025 will reflect key trends in the building industry. Dato’ Vincent Lim, President of C.I.S, said, “The ASEAN doors and windows market is projected to grow at 6% CAGR by 2027, and the Asia-Pacific flat glass market is expected to reach USD 87 billion by 2028.” He added, “FENESTEX (ASEAN Fenestration and Technology Exhibition) will be a unique concurrent exhibition that will redefine sustainable building solutions with trending products in windows, doors, glass and facade.”

Another highlight is a Future Workspaces zone, which will feature innovative solutions that inspire creative, productive, comfortable office environments suited to today’s society.

As a vibrant hub for architects and designers, ARCHIDEX fosters creativity and innovation, providing a space to explore emerging trends, discuss government policies and local initiatives, and drive international sustainable development.

    Kuala Lumpur Architecture Week 2025

Malaysia’s first KL Architecture Week – a dynamic platform where innovation, collaboration, and inspiration converge – is set to take place over six days, with festivities spread across key locations from KLCC to MITEC.

During the soft launch, Nga announced the Ministry’s full support for the inaugural event, saying, “Let’s create history and establish a strong brand for Malaysia that will attract more ASEAN players.”

He also announced that the government will host the ASEAN Real Estate Summit 2025, as part of Malaysia’s ASEAN 2025 chairmanship, alongside ARCHIDEX 2025. This event aims to leverage Malaysia’s housing and real estate sector in collaboration with industry stakeholders, including architects, to penetrate the robust ASEAN market, which is projected to be the fourth-largest economy globally by 2030.

This, he added, aligns with the government’s vision of transforming Malaysia from being a gateway to ASEAN to being its centre.

Dato’ Vincent said, “The Kuala Lumpur Architecture Week, in conjunction with ARCHIDEX, aims to elevate Kuala Lumpur as a resilient, sustainable, and inclusive metropolis. This platform will allow us to showcase our rich heritage sites, boost our tourism sector, and contribute to Malaysia’s economic growth. Most importantly, through this initiative, we hope to support the Government’s aspirations of transforming Malaysia into the centre of ASEAN.”

Adjunct Prof. Ar. Adrianta said, “As architects, our responsibilities extend beyond design—we must address urban challenges and embrace sustainable development. Staying ahead requires embracing new technologies while honouring our heritage in a rapidly evolving world. Together with government support, we can create resilient cities that reflect our culture and meet the needs of our communities, ensuring that Malaysia remains at the forefront of global architecture.

    Latest trends and economic potential

ARCHIDEX 2025 is a platform to enhance knowledge-sharing, networking, and stimulate trade among industry players. Nga emphasised, “As urbanisation rates are projected to reach 85% to 90% by 2050, there will be an increasing demand for sustainable living environments. We must promote sustainable development through innovative solutions for both residential and commercial spaces.”

To this end, ARCHIDEX continues to be a pivotal platform that facilitates collaboration among architects, interior designers, and builders, addressing industry challenges and driving the development of effective architecture and building solutions.

Conclusion ARCHIDEX 2025 is scheduled to take place in July at MITEC and KLCC. For more information and updates, visit https://archidex.com.my
