• Swire Properties to launch largest White Christmas Street Fair ever – “CampUnity”

    28 November 2024

(22 November 2024, Hong Kong) Swire Properties’ highly-anticipated year-end community celebration, the White Christmas Street Fair, will return from 4 to 8 December with the “CampUnity” campaign set to immerse visitors in a never-before-seen festive experience.

Inspired by the camping theme, the largest-ever Street Fair will stretch from Tong Chong Street, to Taikoo Square, Taikoo Park and Quarryside, the harbourfront community space in Quarry Bay, with festive delights to entertain young and old, as well as their furry friends.

Taikoo Place will transform into a vast outdoor campsite filled with: 41 retailers and F&B vendors; brand new themed attractions such as the first open-air cinema at Taikoo Park; interactive fire dance and a host of cheerful festive performances, and workshops to name but a few highlights.

Tong Chong Street and Taikoo Park will host festive shopping booths brimming with a wide range selection of goodies. Categories include Christmas decorations, snacks, homeware, accessories, kids & pets, skincare, as well as exciting camping-related treats. With more choices than ever, visitors can also enjoy festive nibbles at every corner of the Street Fair.

Dotting the “CampUnity” Christmas campsite will be heart-warming campfires perfect as festive photo spots with family, friends or that special someone. Utilising a technology similar to the Cauldron at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the bonfire flickers by lighting, water and electricity-generated flame effects. The main water feature at Taikoo Square will transform into a rippling water light show (Mrs Claus’ Starry River), and there will also be an interactive fire dance performance.

For those seeking something cozier, the open-air cinema at Taikoo Park will showcase beloved Christmas classics and will offer visitors a rare chance to unwind under the twinkling stars.  Workshops, handicraft sessions, fitness classes, urban sketching and other fabulous activities also await visitors.

Quarryside – another new venue for the Street Fair – will host a pet-friendly Christmas celebration for animal lovers and their fur babies. From choosing the perfect Christmas gift from 10 shopping booths, to pet yoga, a pet-friendly jazz concert and dog training workshops, this is set to be one of the most popular offerings this time around.

Aligning with Swire Properties’ Sustainable Development (SD) 2030 Strategy, the White Christmas Street Fair will once again work towards the zero-waste event goal by minimising the use of raw materials and finding innovative ways to upcycle waste.

This year, 40,000 used coffee capsules were upcycled into Christmas string lights by 450 volunteers to bathe every part of the Street Fair in a festive sparkling glow. To encourage waste reduction, no single use container and cutlery will be provided, and visitors are encouraged to bring their own utensils.  The Street Fair will continue to offer on-site rental of reusable cutlery.

The White Christmas Street Fair is designed, planned and executed by the 2024 cohort of the Swire Properties Placemaking Academy (SPPA) – the Company’s flagship youth empowerment initiative. Inspired by Swire Properties’ placemaking and biodiversity enhancing efforts, students created this year’s unique concept based on camping.

The Placemaking Academy Junior Programme, a collaboration between SPPA and the E-League Programme by the Eastern District Office, recruited four secondary school students from the Eastern District, who will become the MCs of the Street Fair.

The Street Fair will once again raise funds for Operation Santa Claus to help those in need.
