• HKGBC responds to green building initiatives in 2014 Policy Address

    The Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) welcomes the policy initiatives on promoting green building in the 2014 Policy Address.

    In response, the HKGBC is calling the Government to consider the following three recommendations to reinforce green building developments in Hong Kong: A Recycling Fund with HK$1 billion in capital to boost sustainable development of the recycling industry in Hong Kong. In relieving the pressure of solid waste, the HKGBC welcomes the Government’s initiative to create comprehensive strategies and plans to reduce, recover and treat organic waste; Urban Planning – HKGBC supports the Government’s plan to develop North East New Territories, East Lantau Island and Hung Shui Kiu New Development Area.

    The HKGBC suggests the Government to define new standards for green building development by incorporating green elements to develop green communities; and, Green Building  – The HKGBC will proactively collaborate with the “Steering Committee on the Promotion of Green Building” chaired by the Secretary for the Environment to further promote the long term planning of green building development.
