HKIA Cross-Strait Architectural Design Symposium and Awards Exhibition 2015

(Hong Kong, 6 August 2015) – With the set theme of ‘Architecture, Culture, Place…’ , the HKIA Cross-Strait Architectural Design Symposium and Awards Exhibition 2015 is organized by The Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA) from 24^th to 30^th August 2015 at One International Finance Centre, Central.

The exhibition will showcase 33 winning architectural design projects across the Cross-Strait regions in the Professional and Student Categories to allow practitioners and general public to appreciate design excellence in close distance.

The HKIA Cross-Strait Architectural Design Awards (CADA) is organized by the HKIA and sponsored by Create Hong Kong of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (CreateHK) to promote excellence of architectural design in the Mainland China, Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong (Cross-Strait regions) and hence, to give recognition to those outstanding designs in Cross-Strait regions over the past 10 years. This year,approximately 200 nominations across 9  Professional categories were received, out of which, a total of 27 outstanding projects were awarded by the international jury panel; while another 20 winning projects were screened from 76 nominations in the Student Category.

Recognizing Architectural Design Excellence in Cross-Strait Regions

The public exhibition will showcase a total of 33 Gold, Silver, Bronze and Merit Award winning architectural design projects of CADA, including 27 projects from Professional Categories and 6 projects from Student Category. To provide a wider spectrum of the project designs, the exhibition will not only display portraits and design concepts on panels, but also 3D architectural models of selected Gold & Silver winning projects.  (Please refer to the appendix on the exhibited projects)

Besides, to facilitate a review of the successful HKIA Cross-Strait Architectural Design Symposium and Awards 2015 by general public, a recap video of the Symposium featuring highlights of international speakers’ presentations will be looping at the exhibition hall. Sharing by students participating in the competition on their works and in an exchange program will also be highlighted in the video.

HKIA Cross-Strait Architectural Design Symposium and Awards Exhibition 2015 Opening Ceremony will be held on 24^th August 2015 at Main Concourse, Podium Level 1, One International Finance Centre, 1 Harbour View Street, Central (MTR Exit E1). Mr. Jerry Liu, Head of CreateHK, will attend as the Guest of Honour. The exhibition will be opened to public for free admission from 24^th to 30^th August 2015.
