Recognising Surveyors’ Innovative Solutions that Advance the Built Environment
The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS) held the HKIS Awards 2026 Presentation Ceremony-cum-Dinner on 13 August 2026 at the Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel, bringing together over 370 guests including government officials, industry leaders, leaders of professional bodies, jury panel members and representatives from award-winning projects.
Under the theme “Surveying for Innovative Solutions”, the HKIS Awards celebrate outstanding surveying contributions across the building lifecycle, recognising how surveying expertise and new technologies are applied, in the face of ever-changing development requirements, to deliver practical, innovative and sustainable outcomes for Hong Kong.
Following a rigorous process comprising preliminary assessment, site visits and presentations to the Jury Panel, Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited’s Sai Sha Comprehensive Development (Sai Sha Residences, GO PARK Sai Sha and Sai Sha Road) was selected for the Awards’ top honour — the HKIS Excellence in Surveying Award. The project also received the Gold Award in the Planning & Development category, demonstrating strong capabilities in large-scale integrated development planning and delivery, effective cost and risk management, and cross-disciplinary, multi-stakeholder coordination supported by robust project governance.
The Awards cover a wide range of categories, including Planning & Development, Pre-Contract Management, Construction (Infrastructure / Alteration and Addition / Building), Land & Property Sales & Marketing, Commercial Properties Leasing & Asset Management, and Property Facilities Management & Maintenance.
The Gold Award winners across the various award categories include Sai Sha Comprehensive Development (Sai Sha Residences, GO PARK Sai Sha and Sai Sha Road) by Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited (Planning & Development); Tung Chung Traction Substation Residential Development by MTR Corporation Limited, Chinachem Group (Pre-Contract Management); The East Coast Boardwalk by Civil Engineering and Development Department (Construction (Infrastructure)); Lo Pan Spirit Inheritance: Conservation of Lo Pan Temple by Hong Kong Lo Pan Kwong Yuet Tong (Construction (Alteration and Addition)); High West Development by The University of Hong Kong (Construction (Building)); THE LEGACY by Henderson Land Development Company Limited, New World Development Company Limited (Land & Property Sales & Marketing); Tuen Mun Town Plaza by Sino Group (Commercial Properties Leasing & Asset Management); and AIRSIDE by Nan Fung Group (Property Facilities Management & Maintenance). The outstanding performance of these award-winning projects fully reflects the professional standards of Hong Kong’s surveying industry leaders. The Guest of Honour, Ms Bernadette Linn Hon-ho, JP, Secretary for Development of the HKSAR Government, delivered the opening address and congratulated the HKIS on successfully organising the event. She acknowledged the surveying profession’s long-standing contributions and professional advice on key policy areas including lease extension, the compulsory sale regime, the Security of Payment Ordinance for the construction sector, and Building Information Modelling (BIM). She praised the entries’ strength shown in the entire project lifecycle from planning, construction to asset management, and emphasised that cross-disciplinary collaboration is vital for driving innovation. The Government will also promote the application of artificial intelligence, construction robots and smart site management, and has called on the industry to seize the development opportunities presented by the Northern Metropolis.
Sr WAN Wai Ming, Tony, President of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, said: “Surveyors continue to support Hong Kong’s economy and real estate development in areas such as land planning, cost management, asset optimisation and life-cycle management. Under the theme ‘Surveying for Innovative Solutions’, this year’s awards recognise the industry’s achievements in breaking with tradition, leveraging technology, and exploring innovative solutions across various practice areas. The winning projects fully demonstrate the vital role the surveying profession plays in ensuring project quality, optimizing resource utilization, promoting sustainable development, and building a more resilient and competitive city.”
Sr LAM Ka Fai, Francis, Chairman of the Organising Committee for the HKIS Awards 2026, said: “This year’s Awards aim to recognide surveyors who respond to the ever-evolving urban environment through innovative thinking and the application of technology. The number of entries this year reached a record high, fully demonstrating the industry’s strong recognition and support for the Awards, as well as showcasing how surveyors can flexibly apply innovative methods and technology to propose practical solutions in the face of increasingly complex project environments.”
Sr LAU Chun Kong, JP, Convenor of the Jury Panel, the HKIS Awards 2026, said the Awards categories for this year’s edition have been optimised to more comprehensively cover the entire building lifecycle—from planning and development, , to land and property marketing, commercial leasing and asset management, as well as property facilities management and maintenance—thereby more fully showcasing the value and contributions of the surveying profession at every stage of development.
