    6 August 2025

[6 August 2025] Hongkong Land and adidas today jointly announced that adidas, a global leader in sports, will be moving into Westbund Central, Shanghai, taking up an entire office block of 32,400 sq. m. (approximately 348,750 sq. ft) across 18 floors with handover in Q1 2026 and full occupancy by Q4 2026.

Mr Stuart Grant, Executive Director & Chief Executive, Westbund Central, said, “We are delighted to welcome adidas as the sole tenant of one of our office buildings. This major lease transaction underscores Hongkong Land’s appeal to leading brands seeking ultra-premium integrated commercial properties. adidas’ decision to relocate their Greater China headquarters here will give the company’s stakeholders access to the premium urban
waterfront living and eco-wellness work-life integration that we are creating at Westbund Central.”

“We have confirmed 79,000 sq. m. of office take up at Westbund Central in the last 12 months which is more than any other developer in the market.” Excluding business parks, this lease transaction is one of the largest in the Grade A office market in Shanghai since 2023.

The new office will accommodate more than 1,500 employees and include various facilities for staff such as a whole-floor gym. The office is also conveniently located near the adidas RUNBASE – the brand’s first 24/7 public running hub in China. This landmark venue has served as Shanghai’s premier running destination for over a decade, offering professional-grade amenities and services that deliver exceptional experiences for runners. Its ongoing operations actively contribute to Shanghai’s development as a world-class sports capital.

Mr Adrian Siu, Managing Director, Greater China, adidas, said, “We are ecstatic to establish our new Greater China headquarters at Westbund Central, a prime location with access to the running trails along the Xuhui Waterfront. This relocation signifies our commitment to deepen and drive growth in adidas’ development in Shanghai and China. Westbund Central offers a vibrant, modern and premier business ecosystem that our employees will thrive in.”

The new headquarters will also fulfil the brand’s commitment to creating a sustainable, digitalised, active and collaborative workplace. Adidas is one of four major organisations to move into the first phase of Westbund Central – a 1.7 million sq. m. mixed-use district looking onto the riverbank of the Huangpu. Hongkong Land will build 650,000 sq. m. of Grade A office space set across 12 buildings which will feature cutting edge design, premium amenities and facilities and curated hospitality management. The futuristic office buildings will contribute to a vibrant West Bund district where “Experience is central.”
