• Leighton awarded major hospital contract

    Leighton Contractors has secured a design and build contract for a new hospital in Tin Shui Wai, Hong Kong.

    Tin Shui Wai HospitalThe contract is valued at approximately A$370 million and will be delivered as a joint venture between Leighton Contractors (Asia) Ltd., and Able Engineering Company Ltd. The Tin Shui Wai Hospital will be a new 12-storey complex with a single-storey basement and an internal road network on a site area of 13,300 square metres.

    The hospital will provide in-patient care services, including 260 beds, and various ambulatory care services. Leighton Contractors has accumulated significant experience and a strong track record in the field of healthcare facilities in Hong Kong, having successfully completed four major healthcare projects in the city, and is well positioned to take advantage of future opportunities in this field. The new hospital is expected to be completed by mid-2016.

    “The award of this contract positions the Group well to utilise this core competence to capture the opportunities arising in the health sector market as investment in social infrastructure continues to expand,” stated Ian Edwards, managing director of Leighton Asia, India and Offshore.
