22nd June 2015, Hong Kong – Co-chaired by the Hong Kong Construction Association and the Hong Kong Institute of Construction Managers, the Organizing Committee of Quality Building Award 2016 (QBA 2016) proudly announced the official commencement of its award nomination period. Nomination begins today on 22nd June 2015 (Monday), and will last until 6th November 2015 (Friday) at 12noon.
Jointly-organized by nine building and construction related institutes and associations, the Award had reached to its 8th episode. This biennial Award hadearned a respectful recognition in both Hong Kong and overseas building industry.With the theme “New Horizons for Superiority”, QBA 2016 could be the platform for the professionals in showcase their excellent achievements in the building industry and seek for a breakthrough from the existing quality buildings.
Ir CHIN Chi Keung, Cyras, Co-Chairman of QBA 2016 Organizing Committee, said, “I’m honored to have the opportunity to chair the 8th episode of QBA. I hope the Organizing Committee could continue QBA’s recognizable acknowledgement in the building industry not only in Hong Kong but worldwide. Besides, the participants can make good use of the great influence of Quality Building Award to display their prominent projects.” Cr CHUNG Koon Man, another Co-Chairman of QBA 2016 Organizing Committee, continuously said, “To enhance the credibility, fairness and transparency, this year, we expanded the jury panel from seven to nine jurors. They come from the government, academia, and professional societies. I believe all of our jurors have rich experience and knowledge to choose the award winners for us.”
The six award categories of QBA 2016, which is applicable for nominations, include:

| 1) Hong Kong Residential(Single Building) | – Nominated new building must be a single independent structure not part of a complex containing other buildings.- Major Function of the nominated building must be for residential use. |
| 2) Hong Kong Residential(Multiple Buildings) | – Nominated new buildings must be a group of buildings of similar kinds, which form a residential complex.- Major Function of the nominated multiple buildings must be for residential use. |
| 3) Hong Kong Non-Residential(New Building) | – Major Function of the nominated new building must be for non-residential use or include non-residential use. |
| 4) Hong Kong Building (Renovation / Revitalization) | – Nominated existing building must have undergone and completed a renovation, restoration, revitalization or similar process to its physical structure and/or communal facilities.- Nominated existing building could be for residential or non-residential use. |
| 5) Building Outside Hong Kong (Residential) | – Nomination must be outside the territorial limits of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.- Major Function of the nominated multiple buildings must be for residential use. |
| 6) Building Outside Hong Kong (Non-Residential) | – Nomination must be outside the territorial limits of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.- Major Function of the nominated new building must be for non-residential use or include non-residential use. |
* Nominated buildings should be practically completed in the period between 1 January 2012 and 30 June 2015, supported by the document certified by client on completion.
Classes of awards upon selection by Jury Panel:

| Quality Excellence Award | ONLY One Quality Excellence Award will be presented to a project within the territorial limits of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region with outstanding OVERALL quality and is the BEST among all the Grand Award Winners. |
| Grand Awards* | There will be a Grand Award Winner(s) for each nomination category. This is the highest recognition to projects at the category level. |
| Merits* | There will be recognition of merit(s) for each nomination category. |
| Finalists | There will be recognition of finalist(s) for each nomination who has / have passed the first screening, site visits and delivered a presentation at the Finalist Presentation to Jury Panel cum Conference. |
* QBA 2016 Organizing Committee reserves the right not to bestow an award if the Jury Panel considers no nomination is worth receiving that particular award. The decision of the Jury Panel shall be final.
