A multi-year investment to transform Taikoo Place, Cityplaza and Quarry Bay neighbourhood shops into a Global Business & Lifestyle District

Swire Properties today outlined plans to invest HK$15 billion over the next five years to expand and redefine Taikoo Place. The investment advances its One Taikoo vision for an integrated business and lifestyle district, marking the next chapter in the Company’s long-term stewardship of the area.
The investment will bring Taikoo Place, Cityplaza and the neighbourhood shops closer together as an integrated Global Business & Lifestyle District under the Taikoo Place brand. Strategic acquisitions, phased redevelopment, refreshed retail offerings, curated experiences and enhanced connectivity will support this transformation
The plan will expand Taikoo Place from a world-class business hub into a vibrant mixed-use destination, combining premium offices, retail, hospitality and residential together with arts and culture, wellness and community to create a richer, more connected neighbourhood.
“Our continued investment in Taikoo Place reflects our long-term commitment to Hong Kong and our confidence in its future as a leading international commercial and financial centre,”
said Tim Blackburn, Chief Executive of Swire Properties.
“One Taikoo builds on what we have created here over the past five decades and looks firmly to the future. It is an exciting opportunity to unlock the area’s full potential by bringing together what makes this neighbourhood special in a seamlessly connected, mixed-use destination that responds to the evolving needs and expectations of our customers and the people who live, work and play here.”

A next-generation office tower with uninterrupted harbour views and approximately 500,000 sq ft of office space will form part of the Taikoo Place expansion. It will be created through the redevelopment of Sea View Building, Hoi Wan Building and Chinachem Exchange Square. The retail podium will connect directly to the heart of Taikoo Place through a climate-controlled network of elevated walkways.
Cityplaza, Hong Kong Island’s largest shopping mall, remains central to the One Taikoo vision as the district’s retail and lifestyle landmark. The mall is also undergoing upgrades alongside the continued evolution of its brand mix to enhance the overall shopping experience. Overall, together with Taikoo Place and the wider neighbourhood, the area currently offers over 400 shops and F&B outlets.
Swire Properties is also expanding its residential portfolio in Taikoo Place. A joint-venture development along King’s Road and Pan Hoi Street will provide 850 residences across three towers above a retail podium that connects directly into Taikoo Place. Completion is expected in 2029.
Taikoo Place currently offers 70,000 square feet of public open space, with over 260 species of native and exotic plants and trees. This tranquil urban oasis supports biodiversity and provides a natural habitat for birds and butterflies. Recognising nature’s role in health and wellbeing, plans are in place to improve connectivity between the harbourfront boardwalk and country park trails at Mount Parker, bringing nature closer to Taikoo Place’s doorstep. Within the district, enhanced wayfinding and digital experiences will further strengthen connectivity between Taikoo Place and Cityplaza. These improvements will help people move more seamlessly between work, shopping, dining, leisure and wellness activities throughout the day.

Swire Properties continues to curate enriching experiences across wellness and sport, arts and cultural programming and signature events. The latest addition is the Taikoo Place Padel Club at Shipyard Lane, scheduled to open later this year. As Hong Kong Island’s largest padel club, it will feature six international competition-standard courts, offering a new amenity for the wider community.
Taikoo Place has successfully attained the WELL Community Platinum Certification, recognising its holistic approach to creating a healthier and more inclusive environment. Swire Properties will continue to build on these foundations, while maintaining the highest sustainability standards reflected in its Platinum ratings under WELL, BEAM Plus and LEED.
Concurrently, Swire Properties is extending the Taikoo Place brand to Beijing. INDIGO, the Company’s landmark mixed-use development in Chaoyang District, has been rebranded as Taikoo Place Beijing in preparation for its Phase Two expansion. Once complete, the riverside development will cover more than 860,000 sqm GFA. It will comprise eight Grade A office towers; a premium mall spanning indoor and outdoor spaces; a new lifestyle hotel; The Delphi social and wellness hub; and expansive green space and open areas for arts and culture and recreational activities.
