Hong Kong • 6 February 2026 — Hong Kong Institute of Construction (HKIC), a member organisation of the Construction Industry Council (CIC), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the College of Professional and Continuing Education of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU CPCE) yesterday. The MoU establishes a collaborative framework to strengthen academic articulation, student development, and professional exchange, with the shared goal of supporting talent development for the construction industry.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Morgan YANG, Director of HKIC and Dr. Anthony LOH, Division Head of the Division of Science, Engineering and Health Studies of PolyU CPCE, and was witnessed by Ir Albert CHENG, Executive Director of the CIC and Prof. Peter YUEN, Dean of PolyU CPCE.
HKIC is committed to nurturing knowledge-based and skilled practitioners, offering four Higher Diploma programmes across different construction trades. PolyU’s School of Professional Education and Executive Development (PolyU SPEED) provides undergraduate top-up degree programmes in Building Engineering and Management, Property and Asset Management, and Surveying, and in recent years has introduced several postgraduate programmes related to construction and engineering. Through the signing of this MoU, both parties will strengthen academic progression and talent development, including exploring articulation arrangements for HKIC graduates to pursue undergraduate top-up degree programmes at PolyU SPEED, and facilitating academic and professional exchange between students of both institutions.
In his remarks, Ir Albert CHENG, Executive Director of the CIC, highlighted that HKIC has long been dedicated to nurturing skilled talent for the construction industry. He emphasised that the collaboration with PolyU CPCE further strengthens the articulation between industry training and higher education. By leveraging the strengths of both institutions, the partnership will provide students with clearer progression pathways and wider learning opportunities, enabling the next generation of construction professionals to achieve new milestones in their career development.
Prof. Peter YUEN, Dean of PolyU CPCE, stated, “The construction industry has long been a driving force behind Hong Kong’s economic development. Looking ahead, construction demand is expected to continue growing steadily, especially with the development of the Northern Metropolis. The need for knowledge-based technical talent will only increase. Against this backdrop, today’s collaboration between the two institutions carries deep significance.”
HKIC and PolyU CPCE will continue to explore further collaboration opportunities, including academic articulation arrangements and joint programme development, to enable more HKIC graduates to advance their professional capabilities and contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of Hong Kong’s construction industry.
