International Conference 2025 and Anniversary Dinner Focusing on “Pathways to Carbon Neutrality” with Prestigious Awards
Honoring Excellence in Sustainable Built Environment
BEAM Society Limited (BSL) celebrated its 15th Anniversary on 23 October 2025, with an International Conference themed “Pathways to Carbon Neutrality: Realising ESG and Sustainable Built Environment!” at the Grand Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Hong Kong Kowloon East, followed by the 15th anniversary dinner in the evening.
The Conference brought together over 600 participants, both in person and virtually, including Government officials, industry leaders, academics and stakeholders.
The Guest of Honour, Ms Doris HO Pui-ling, JP, Permanent Secretary for Development (Planning & Lands) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, highlighted that, “The building and construction sectors play a crucial role in helping Hong Kong achieve its goal of carbon neutrality. For years, the HKSAR government has mandated that public works projects incorporate green building features to align with the city’s carbon neutrality targets. With the continuous enhancement of BEAM Plus tools, we are confident that these assessments will extend beyond Hong Kong, reaching regions such as the Belt and Road countries.”
Mr Victor TAI Sheung-shing, JP, Acting Secretary for Housing, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China and Mr Nicholas HO Lik-chi, Commissioner for Belt and Road, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, served as officiating guests.
Sr Frankie SO Hung Fai, Chairperson of BEAM Society Limited expressed his great gratitude for the participation of distinguished experts, while promoting green building and cross-regional collaboration. He mentioned, “As a key contributor in Hong Kong’s green building sector, BSL will continue to advance the BEAM Plus Assessment Tools by offering tailored assessment services to different building types to help enterprises achieve their sustainability building performances.”
Ir Victor CHEUNG Chi Kong, Chairperson of BEAM Society Limited 15th Anniversary Organising Committee shared, “Achieving carbon neutrality is not only a local issue but relies on the efforts by mankind. In long run, with knowledge sharing and cultural exchange, BSL will be serving as a trusted solution provider for counterparts across Hong Kong, GBA and the Belt and Road Countries.”
The full-day Conference featured four thematic sessions, covering diverse topics from ESG, Data-Driven Decarbonisation to AI-Driven Intelligence. The keynotes speakers included Dr Rocky TUNG, Director and Head of Policy Research of Financial Services Development Council and Ms Tracy Wong HARRIS, Executive Vice President from Hong Kong Green Finance Association.
With the theme of “BEAM Sustaining Excellence, Building our Green Future!”, the BEAM Society 15th Anniversary Dinner welcomed over 380 guests from Government officials, professional institutes and leaders of the green building sectors. The event celebrated 15 years of dedication to promoting sustainable built environments in Hong Kong through the BEAM Plus Assessment Tools and capacity building.
Mr Victor TAI Sheung-shing, JP, Acting Secretary for Housing, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China and Mr David LAM Chi-man, JP, Under Secretary for Development, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, joined the Dinner as the Guest of Honour. Mr XIE Hui-hui, Deputy Director-General of the Authority of Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone of Shenzhen served as the officiating guest.
During the dinner, the inaugural Honorary Life Member Award was presented to Ir Dr Hon LO Wai-kwok, GBS, MH, JP and Prof WONG Kam Sing, GBS, JP, as a tribute to their significant contribution to the green building development in Hong Kong.
The BEAM Plus Consultancy Excellence Award was conferred to AtkinsRéalis Asia Limited, Business Environment Council Limited and WSP (Asia) Limited respectively, in recognition of their outstanding efforts in demonstrating exceptional quality in BEAM Plus submission.
The evening concluded with a fireside talk titled “A Tribute to the HK-BEAM Pioneers” hosted by Ir Dr Cary CHAN Wing-hong, MH, JP and guest speakers, Mr Michael Arnold and Prof Wong Kam Sing, GBS, JP. The talk reflected on the origins of HK-BEAM, recognising their contributions which shaped Hong Kong’s Green building journey.
