(20 September 2024, Hong Kong) Authority of Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone and BEAM Society Limited entered into a strategic partnership to broaden the BEAM Plus assessment, BEAM Pro/ BEAM Affiliate training, and iBEAM data platform services in Qianhai. Nearly 50 industry leaders and professionals from Hong Kong and Shenzhen witnessed this significant milestone, marking BSL’s expansion into Shenzhen Qianhai to enhance green building development in Shenzhen and beyond. This expansion allows developers in Mainland China to utilise the internationally recognised green building assessment, training and data analytics services offered by BSL in Hong Kong through a new service platform in Qianhai. The suite of green building services provided by BSL will enable built projects in Mainland China to improve their sustainability credentials, offering more streamlined, robust and transparent assessment options to meet energy efficiency, environmental protection and sustainable development goals.

Under the witness of Mr FUNG Yiu Man, Frankie, Principal Assistant Secretary of the Development Bureau, The Government of the HKSAR; Mr XIE Hui-hui, Deputy Director-General of the Authority of Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone of Shenzhen; Mr YE Shui-qiu, Deputy Director for General of the Department of Educational, Scientific and Technological Affairs, Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR; Mr FANG Jun from the Shenzhen Housing and Construction Bureau and Sr Frankie SO Hung Fai, Chairperson of the BSL, the Agreement was signed by Mr XIE Chun-hua, Director of Construction Management Office of the Authority of Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone of Shenzhen and Ir CS HO, General Manager of BEAM Society Limited.
One of the highlights of this strategic partnership is performing BEAM Plus assessment on the demonstration projects in Qianhai. BSL will assess five built projects in the zone using BEAM Plus Assessment Tools. The projects include Qianhai CTF Finance Tower, Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Innovation Industrial Park, Phase II of the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub, Tencent’s New Headquarters and WeBank Headquarters. To complement the assessment, BSL will offer customised training services to the respective project teams to strengthen the green building expertise of professionals in Qianhai.
Mr XIE Hui-hui, Deputy-Director-General of the Authority of Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone of Shenzhen is pleased to be working with BSL in introducing the BEAM Plus Assessment Tools into Qianhai. He noted that, “Green buildings are vital for sustainable urban development and play a key role in achieving the national carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals.
Qianhai is actively pursuing the national objective of environmental preservation by emphasising green buildings as a fundamental strategy for fostering high-quality urban development. Through careful planning for green building initiatives and providing guidelines for design and construction, we have made significant strides in green building development in Qianhai. I look forward to collaborating with BSL and leveraging their successful experiences in Hong Kong to enhance the green building assessment services in Qianhai, while jointly exploring new pathways for green building development in both regions.”
Addressing the audience at the ceremony, Sr Frankie SO Hung Fai, Chairperson of the BSL, expressed his honour for BSL in being a strategic partner of the Authority of Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone of Shenzhen in scaling up Qianhai’s efforts in green building development. “BSL is committed to providing high-quality green building assessment services and professional training in Qianhai to support the innovative development of the zone’s modern service industry. We believe our long-standing experience in green building assessment and training services in Hong Kong will bring significant benefits to the built environment in Qianhai, Greater Bay Area and the rest of Mainland China, aligning with the national targets of reaching carbon peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060.
