First pop-up displays of latest Tesla EVs at Swire Properties shopping malls to promote sustainable lifestyle
(29 April, 2016, Hong Kong) – Swire Properties is pleased to announce a regional collaboration project with Tesla, the California-based manufacturer of the award winning Model S electric sedan, to stage a series of pop-up events in Swire Properties’ malls in Hong Kong and Mainland China. This first-time collaboration between the two companies will allow visitors to enjoy their first glimpse of Tesla’s latest car series in the malls in 2016. A lifestyle video will also be produced to showcase the two brands’ shared vision in sustainability, innovation and transformation.
Swire Properties has always sought to embed innovation in every aspect of its daily business operations. In line with this mission, the collaboration with Tesla brings a series of pop-up exhibitions to Pacific Place and Cityplaza in Hong Kong, as well as three shopping malls in Mainland China – Taikoo Li Sanlitun in Beijing, Sino-Ocean Taikoo Li Chengdu, and TaiKoo Hui in Guangzhou. Pacific Place welcomed the Hong Kong debut of Tesla’s new Model S today, while the long-awaited Tesla Model X SUV made its Asia debut at Taikoo Li Sanlitun in Beijing on 26 April.
“Swire Properties and Tesla share a similar vision of creating transformational value, being sustainable and staying ahead of the curve,” said Alvin Kong, Director of Retail at Swire Properties. “We’re very pleased to be partnering with Tesla and are excited to debut this innovative technology from Tesla in our shopping malls.”
Currently, Tesla’s destination charging stations have been installed at three of Swire Properties’ malls in Mainland China. In Hong Kong, Pacific Place also houses one of Tesla’s supercharger stations, comprising four supercharger stalls which offer free public charging services to Tesla drivers. As a continuation of its efforts to promote a green lifestyle, Swire Properties will continue to expand Tesla’s charging network in its other portfolios in both Hong Kong and Mainland China.
“Tesla’s goal is to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. We are excited to work with Swire Properties to educate the public about the benefits of transitioning to EVs and the latest Autopilot technologies with our pop-up events.” said Isabel Fan, Regional Director of Tesla Hong Kong and Macau. “The collaborations with Swire Properties will also drive Tesla’s expansion of public charging service in the region, allowing Tesla owners to recharge their car conveniently at Swire Properties’ prime locations.”
Since delivering the first Model S in Hong Kong in the summer of 2014, Tesla has seen increasing interest from customers in the city. Model S was also the best-selling sedan in Hong Kong in 2015, with 2,221 cars delivered last year. To celebrate the arrival of the new Model S in Hong Kong, the car will be displayed for the first time in the city at the pop-up event at Pacific Place. Visitors can get a closer look at the design and Model S’s enhanced features, as well as schedule exclusive test-drivesat the pop-ups.
