• The HKIA Cross-Strait Architectural Design Symposium and Awards 2017

    (22 March 2018, Hong Kong) The Hong Kong Institute of Architects (The HKIA) is proud to present the Exhibition of The HKIA Cross-Strait Architectural Design Symposium & Awards (CADSA) 2017 from 23 to 29 March 2018 at Hysan Place office lobby on 9/F. The exhibition will showcase a total of 37 architectural design projects, which are Gold, Silver, Bronze and Merit Award winners in the Professional and Student Categories of CADSA 2017, for more practitioners and the general public to appreciate architectural design excellence in a close distance.

    Organized by The HKIA, with the support from Create Hong Kong (CreateHK) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) as the lead sponsor, CADSA aims to build up a platform for fostering communications among eminent architects in the region, and to recognize brilliant architectural works across the strait in the past decade that helped create superior environment with diversity initiatives and contributed to economic development. Its 2017 edition has received approximately 200 nominations across 8 Professional Categories, out of which, a total of 79 outstanding projects were awarded with recognition by the international jury panel; while another 20 winning design concepts were screened from 74 nominations in the Student Category.

     

    Recognizing Architectural Design Excellence in the Cross-Strait Region

    The public exhibition at 9/F Hysan Place office lobby, which is the finale of the exhibition series, will showcase a total of 37 Gold, Silver, Bronze and Merit award-winning architectural design projects of CADSA 2017, including the winner of the Special Jury Award – Sliver Award, Floating, which is a temporary architecture. To facilitate the visitors to appreciate the wider spectrum of the projects, the exhibition will not only display portraits and design concepts of these awarded projects on panels, but also the 3D architectural models of the Gold award winners. In addition, there will be an interactive multimedia zone for the public to review the award-winning architectural design projects on an iPad, and to cast their votes for “My Most Liked Winning Entry” among all the award winning projects. (Please refer to the appendix for the exhibited projects)

    Besides, to facilitate the general public to review the successful CADSA 2017, a recap video featuring highlights of CADSA’s Symposium and Award Dinner will be displayed at the exhibition. The video will also highlight the sharing by the students participated in the CADSA’s competition and exchange program.
